I bloody love Simon Cowell. I love how arrogant he is. I love how successful he is. I love how every word that he speaks on camera is carefully arranged to have maximum effect in persuading people like my mum to buy his records. And the man has paid his dues: he lost his fortune, has dressed up as a big furry dog and pranced around on telly to sell a terrible record with barking noises on it, and he was responsible for this. But look at him now. There are rumours that somethin’s ‘a brewing between him and retail multibillionaire Sir Philip Green, and it might be the purchase of ITV, the UK’s largest commercial TV network. Cowell, who’s worth around £120 million is to join forces with Sir Philip Green to establish a new entertainment company serving both US and UK TV markets. But there are rumours that it may just be a very quiet attempt at a purchase of ITV – according to one insider:
“Those two don’t form a holding company and then transfer into it programme formats. That’s too waffly, too vague. I think he’s going to buy ITV. That’s the endgame. That’s why they have formed a holding company,”
