Screw all this expenses rubbish.  We don’t need more righteous, squeaky-clean politicians, we need more startlingly beautiful heiresses.  Like this one, Elena Basescu, who is standing as a candidate in the upcoming European parliamentary elections.  Read more after the jump.

28-year-old Elena is the daughter of Traian Basescu, the president of Romania.  As a model, heiress and party girl, she’s been dubbed “the Romanian Paris Hilton.”  Ok, you’ve just lost me.  Way to undersell yourself.  “Elect me because I’m like Paris Hilton, but slightly worse because I’m the Paris Hilton of Romania.”

Her father is quick to defend her credibility, saying that she’s “much cleverer than people think.”  Hang in there, Elena, you may yet surpass our already woeful expectations of your intellect.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m not disputing the sexy heiress factor here, and, true to form, I’ll be anxiously awaiting the leak of the inevitable sex tape.  Please, god.
